Who Are You Anyway?
Have you ever asked yourself this question? If you haven’t, ask yourself this now before you continue reading…Who are you?
What did you come up with?
We wear many hats and when someone else asks who we are, we may label ourselves: spouse, parent, athlete, doctor, lawyer, carpool driver…so many choices, but so NOT who we really are.
But what did you label yourself to be and do you like what you found? If you do, how lost would you feel if that label was no longer one you could identify with?
If it is a horrific occurrence like a child dying, that is totally beyond this blog. But lesser things, like when people retire, they come up against this all the time. Some people even feel like orphans when a parent dies at 90, because they no longer feel like that son or daughter.
Take another moment and go a bit deeper. Who are you really?
If you come up with negatives like I can’t or I’m not good enough, or I’m sort of…or I’m passably attractive, reasonably intelligent…these are what we call limiting beliefs because they stop us from becoming our full potential.
You’ve seen people, if not in your personal life, at least on TV, that have overcome major physical limitations to do great things, and things we don’t believe could be possible. They look beyond what people label them to be and strive to be their best selves. Sometimes you hear them saying their injury, accident or disease was the best thing that happened to them because they can then focus on what truly matters and who they truly are, which isn’t their physical beauty or ability to move like others.
So who are you really? You are an amazing, intelligent, and beautiful being capable of unlimited things. This is truth, now…we just have to believe it and act accordingly!!
